Flourish with us at Phoenix
Please note during Covid19 our RA is available upon request to ensure visitors safety at all times.
Our unique surroundings offer alternative and inspiring opportunities to engage in enrichment and educational activities that promote physical and mental wellbeing through nature and the environment. We offer every person that comes to Flourish a variety of alternate experiences that challenge, enthuse, and promote progress in creative learning and reflection, enabling development in academic ability, social skills and self-confidence.
Both our education and enrichment workshops, inspire and enthuse participants in a range of creative and varied topics that include animal care, plants and gardening, arts and crafts and conservation. Our specialist site allows us to offer bespoke packages to suit all needs and abilities, supporting and inspiring individuals to engage in their own self development; resulting in a sense of achievement and progress; personally, academically, and socially.
Our approach to developing individuals at Flourish provides everyone with the foundations to awaken empathy, access fundamental values and foster a sense of responsibility for themselves and others around them. We offer a range of differentiated workshops, specifically designed to meet the personal needs of every individual. Where an educational focus is required, bespoke projects can be designed to meet the objectives set out within both the National Curriculum Framework and P-Scale attainment targets, for SEND children; with employability skills, self-confidence work and social skills also available for older individuals and adults.
Activities
Based in Packington, near Ashby-De-La-Zouch, our wonderful site is nestled in the beautiful countryside alongside the Gilwiskaw Brook. We provide individuals, groups and families with the opportunity to care for and learn about Miniature Shetland Ponies, Alpacas, Reindeer, goats and chickens, through a hands on approach that allows everyone to achieve and enjoy their experience at Flourish on a level they are comfortable with. Our bespoke yurt situated on site provides warmth with it’s log burning stove and a beautifully open and alternative setting for fun and creative activities for all to engage in, whilst overlooking the natural beauty of the Brook and willow bower that line the fields surrounding the site.
Through our educational and enrichment projects individuals have the option to experience an alternative approach to learning and education through working directly with the animals which provides a therapeutic and nurturing environment, alongside our staff who sensitively care and support all individual needs. In addition to animal husbandry activities, we are also able to offer inspired crafting activities including art and crafts, nature crafting, carpentry, and site development projects. This encourages participants to be imaginative with the outdoors and to use the site to uncover materials to use in artistic and creative ways.
Our activities encourage physical activity and engagement and also provide safe and supported areas for focused 1-2-1 work. Participants are invited to engage with wildlife and land-based projects such as planting and gardening and can develop their confidence to learn new skills and work with others, helping to improve social and emotional wellbeing. We actively encourage any carers, parents and support workers that attend with and support those with additional needs, to get involved and use the experience to meet and network with each other, thus providing support and understanding with the challenges that can be faced and friendship and empathy with shared experiences and issues in these areas.
